Veterans Home Care Services
Veterans home care services encompass a wide range of support options designed to assist veterans in their daily lives. These services are tailored to meet the specific needs of each veteran, ensuring they can live comfortably and independently in their own homes. The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) in Australia partners with trusted providers like Colbrow Care to deliver these essential services, which include personal care, nursing, domestic assistance, respite care, social support, and home modifications.
The Difference Between DVA Care and Veterans Home Care
DVA Aged Care, provided by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), encompasses a broad range of services and support systems aimed at veterans, war widows, and widowers, including health care, rehabilitation, and financial assistance. It addresses the overall well-being of veterans, ensuring they receive the necessary medical and psychological support. On the other hand, veteran home care specifically focuses on providing in-home support services tailored to the daily living needs of veterans. This includes personal care, nursing, domestic assistance, respite care, and social support, enabling veterans to maintain their independence and quality of life in their own homes.

How To Access Veteran Home Care
Eligibility
Eligibility for Veterans Home Care services is determined by the type of Repatriation Card you hold (Gold or White) and whether you reside at home or in an independent living facility. Veterans living in Commonwealth-funded Aged Care facilities are not eligible. Regal Health can help you understand your entitlements and how to access our veteran home services.
Costs
Eligible veterans, war widows, and widowers incur no costs under the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Community Nursing Programme.
Arranging an Assessment
To arrange for Community Nursing assistance, contact your local doctor and request a referral to Colbrow Care for veterans’ home health care services. Your doctor will then forward your referral to our Care Services team.
We also accept referrals from local medical officers (LMOs), general practitioners (GPs), treating doctors in hospitals, hospital discharge planners, nurse practitioners specializing in community nursing, or Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) Assessment Agencies. Colbrow Care will handle the rest.
