Amongst other things, The DVA program can be used for:

Staying Independent

With programs like Veterans’ Home Care (VHC), DVA Aged Care services offer help with daily tasks such as housework, personal care, and yard maintenance. This support is designed to help veterans maintain their independence and avoid needing residential care facilities.

Recovering After a Hospital Stay

DVA Home Care covers the cost of convalescent care, providing temporary support after hospital discharge. This service helps veterans regain strength and adjust to life back at home.

Supporting Caregivers

Recognising caregivers’ crucial role, DVA Aged Care services offers respite care to give them a well-deserved break. Additionally, DVA provides resources and support to help caregivers manage their responsibilities effectively.

Making Your Home Safe

DVA Aged Care can assist with home modifications to make living spaces safer and more accessible for veterans with disabilities. Through the Rehabilitation Appliances Program (RAP), veterans can also receive essential equipment like wheelchairs and grab bars.

Financial Assistance

In certain cases, the DVA provides financial assistance to veterans who need help managing daily living expenses so they can live comfortably at home.

Community Connection

DVA helps veterans connect with local resources and support groups, fostering a sense of community and ensuring they have access to the support they need.

Are You Eligible for DVA Aged Care?

Eligibility for DVA home care services is determined by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and generally includes veterans who have specific health care needs. To qualify, individuals must be holders of a DVA Health Card, particularly the Gold Card, which covers the required medical condition. The process involves an assessment to determine the level of care needed, which may include personal care, nursing, domestic assistance, or other support services. Colbrow Care assists eligible individuals in navigating the DVA aged care application process to ensure they receive the appropriate care and support tailored to their needs. Additionally, Colbrow Care offers Veteran Home Care Packages that offer comprehensive support in addition to those available with your Gold Card.
